One Student's Fight at Occidental College

Perhaps this is why Mike Adams and David Horowitz are fighting so hard against leftist ideology on college campuses today.

Occidental College in Los Angeles may epitomize what’s wrong in higher education. Professors cancel class to encourage their students to attend a protest against the “Bush Regime,” campus leaders are forced into mandatory “diversity/sensitivity training,” and some far-Left students seem to believe that a liberal arts education consists of little more than painting a portrait of Bill Clinton. Tuition money – in excess of $40,000 per pupil – is wasted on courses such as "The Unbearable Whiteness of Barbie" and “Stupidity,” a mandatory course for some freshmen, which compares incidents in the presidency to Beavis and Butthead.
In FrontPageMagazine.com, the story of Junior Michael Gawley, an Occidental College student, who wrote an editorial in the campus newspaper, The Oxy Weekly, pointedly against the negative treatment of conservatives on campus by faculty as well as liberal students, and in promotion of an atmosphere more accepting of conservative viewpoints. Included in his editorial was a suggestion that the college begin a "conservative themed dormitory." (Be aware that the college does embrace other "Thematic Living" arrangements noted on their website, including Multicultural Hall and The Woman's Center.)

Let us just say that Michael's suggestions did not receive a favorable review, unless, of course, the swastika painted on his door was in his support.
