German Woman Convert to Islam Plots Suicide Bombing In Iraq

That good old Religion of Peace thing can be pretty alluring, as a recent convert to the religion can attest.

Her devotion? How about heading to Iraq and strapping on a bomb.

SPIEGEL ONLINE has learned that German intelligence agencies have prevented three German women from travelling to Iraq in recent weeks. The women, who have close contacts to the Islamist scene in Germany and at least one whom has converted to Islam, came to the attention of intelligence agencies after one of them had announced on an Internet site that she intended to blow herself and her child up in Iraq.

After the Web posting were spotted, Germany's domestic and foreign intelligence agencies mounted an intense search for the three women. One of them was located in Berlin, the other two are believed to come from southern Germany. The Berlin woman's child was taken away from her and she has been put in a psychiatric clinic. The two other women were also prevented from leaving Germany. One of them is also believed to have a child.
Of course we have heard that terrorist intentions are an affront to Islam and that such antics insult all Muslims, apparently, as much as schrapnel does individual ones.

Ethanol: Good For Drivers, Bad For The Hungry

It is the latest in feel-good environmentalist and economic politics--keeping the family farm busy to help relieve America's dependence on foreign oil. The science isn't perfect yet, but the ethanol industry is beginning to boom with dozens of new plants currently under construction or on the drawing board.

Studies have shown that there isn't enough land available in America to even grow enough corn to replace oil, but the introduction of this relatively new, renewable fuel could be a significant help in lowering overall oil demand.

So, what is the catch? Apparently each kernel of corn that is processed into ethanol is one kernel of corn that cannot be eaten by the world's starving masses.

From The Financial Times via Truth About Trade Technology and Right Nation.

Experts say that as petrol prices climb, farmers are diverting more of their harvests towards producing fuel rather than food or feedstock for animals. The new estimate highlights mounting competition between food and fuel that could drive up the price of food, pitting wealthy western car drivers against hungry consumers in developing countries.
Look out America because the debate is already being framed as "wealthy" westerners versus the "hungry."

Look for enhanced vilification in our very near future.

Those Darn Reflexes

How does this comment make you feel?

The quote comes from Alparslan Arslan, the lawyer that was arrested for the murder of a judge in Turkey on May 18. When questioned on the reasoning behind the attack he responded that his actions were

"the reflex actions of a young Muslim," echoing what he told police in his first testimony, which was that he had carried out the attack as "punishment" for the Council of State ruling involving the wearing of a headscarf as a public employee.

Doug Soderstrom: The Professor/Poet of Wharton County CC

Doug Soderstrom, PhD., teaches psychology at Wharton County Junior College in Texas.

While I suppose it is beneficial for a psych department to promote the study of abnormal psychology, is hiring a bat-shit crazy professor the best way to provide that benefit?

Soderstrom writes frequently at Iranian.com in addition to his very demanding academic schedule. A recent effort includes this:

I have come to the conclusion that the Christian fundamentalists, also known as the religious right, are the most evil people in the world. Others (such as those of various Islamic terrorist groups) were considered, but after due consideration, the Christians won... hands down. In fact it was no contest.
You really owe it to yourself to read this whole thing.

But please, don't stop with only this article, check out his poetry too! If just one poem isn't enough, here is a second little gem!

Now, make sure to dig out that checkbook and quickly send a little something to WCCC. I'm sure with all those evil Christians lurking about in Texas the security fences around campus need some bolstering.

Brave Liberal Dissenters

The buzz is loud and it is enveloping. It reaches me through television news, print news and over my beloved NPR.

The story goes like this--John McCain is asked to deliver a commencement address, but before he takes to the podium a brave college student, speaking first, pre-emptively attacks McCain in her own speech to the great approval of her audience.

Ann Coulter has a few choice comments about the glow of heroism now following around Jean Rohe, our sweet and oh-so-brave little coed. From Townhall:

We've always had to endure goody two-shoes apple-polishers -- kids with their hands always up, who turn in talkers when the teacher leaves the classroom and volunteer for extra work after school. But not until today's college liberals have we ever had to suffer the effrontery of the ass-kissers telling us: "I'm bad -- I clean erasers for teachers after class because I'm baaad."

I don't care what liberals think. I don't care that they're spineless suck-ups. Just don't insult my intelligence by telling me they're brave.

5,000 Terrorist Attacks Carried Out By Islamists Since 9/11

From the Religion of Peace.

The Religion of Peace has been bombing, shooting, stabbing and blasting peace all over the globe in prolific fashion; killing and maiming tens of thousands in at least sixty different countries in the four years that TheReligionofPeace.com (TROP) has been keeping track. We can now say that more than a thousand deadly Islamic terror attacks are reported in the media each year – although the true extent of the violence is certainly much higher.

Imagine what isn’t caught in the dark corners of the planet, particularly those countries in the Muslim world that keep the press from shedding light on the sort of atrocities that would be front-page news in the West. More than one million dhimmis have been killed in the Islamic Republic of Sudan over the last twenty years, for example, but they are no more remembered than are the many millions of other victims who began accumulating under the Prophet’s own sword fourteen centuries earlier.

9/11 Survey of Americans Reveals Sizable Suspicion of American Government

I was kindly instructed by my parents, grandparents, teachers and pastor to treat others with respect and kindness.

Now, I have to wonder if these people that I have loved and cherished so much, realized when giving me this instruction that nearly half the people we meet every day are complete idiots.

In the telephone survey of 1200 individuals, just 47% agreed that "the 9/11 attacks were thoroughly investigated and that any speculation about US government involvement is nonsense." Almost as many, 45%, indicated they were more likely to agree "that so many unanswered questions about 9/11 remain that Congress or an International Tribunal should re-investigate the attacks, including whether any US government officials consciously allowed or helped facilitate their success."
Am I to believe that our government, in its eagerness for war with Saddam Hussein killed 3,000 people, demolished the WTC towers, blew a hole in the Pentagon, and knocked an airliner out of the sky?

Good grief.

I suppose that kindness is still a good policy, but this respect thing is sounding a bit iffy.

Iran May Force Jews To Wear Badges

Why do the Jews need a homeland?

Human rights groups are raising alarms over a new law passed by the Iranian parliament that would require the country's Jews and Christians to wear coloured badges to identify them and other religious minorities as non-Muslims.

"This is reminiscent of the Holocaust," said Rabbi Marvin Hier, the dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. "Iran is moving closer and closer to the ideology of the Nazis."

Iranian expatriates living in Canada yesterday confirmed reports that the Iranian parliament, called the Islamic Majlis, passed a law this week setting a dress code for all Iranians, requiring them to wear almost identical "standard Islamic garments."

The law, which must still be approved by Iran's "Supreme Guide" Ali Khamenehi before being put into effect, also establishes special insignia to be worn by non-Muslims.

Iran's roughly 25,000 Jews would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth on the front of their clothes, while Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth.

"There's no reason to believe they won't pass this," said Rabbi Hier. "It will certainly pass unless there's some sort of international outcry over this."
From National Post/Canada.com.

Ahmadinejad has denied the Holocaust. He has threatend to push Israel into the sea. He has vowed that Israel will cease to exist. He has suggested that Israel be dismantled and moved to Europe.

With this activity he is putting some teeth into his hatred for all things Jewish. It is time for people to begin to believe the words of this disturbed man.

Never again?

I used to be sure of the answer to this question. Now I must question the answer.

Arafat's Use of Aid

The Jerusalem Post reports today that Yasser Arafat purchased millions of dollars worth of weaponry out of funds donated by the international community, tax funds transferred by Israel to the PA, and through taxes gathered in the Gaza Strip. Other monies from Israel were also used to fund Palestinian terrorists. The information was obtained in interviews of Arafat's financial aide, Fuad Shubaki, with the Israel Security Agency.

Shubaki estimated that $7-10 million were used every two years to purchase arms for the Gaza Strip, and another $2 million were spent on weapons for the West Bank.
Of course, all of this took place before the terrorists of Hamas took over governance. Should we realistically be able to expect things to improve with the terrorists in charge?

Not one dime of aid should be given to the PA because every penny they have to spend on their own survival is one penny that they cannot spend in support of terror.

Coulter: "Read My Lips: No New Amnesty"

There are times when you have to carefully choose your path through the barbs of an Ann Coulter column to find the priceless quotes, in much the same way I look for delicious morel mushrooms in the nothern woods after the brambles get thick.

Today Ann is talking the President's immigration plan, and she has a few things to add that I suppose the President would smile at, if only in public. From Front Page:

Bush has also apparently learned that the word "amnesty" does not poll well. On Monday night, he angrily denounced the idea of amnesty just before proposing his own amnesty program. The difference between Bush's amnesty program and "amnesty" is: He'd give amnesty only to people who have been breaking our laws for many years – not just a few months. (It's the same program that allows Ted Kennedy to stay in the Senate.)

Bush calls this the "rational middle ground" because it recognizes the difference between "an illegal immigrant who crossed the border recently and someone who has worked here for many years." Yes, the difference is: One of them has been breaking the law longer. If our criminal justice system used that logic, a single murder would get you the death penalty, while serial killers would get probation.
Coulter goes on to note that immigration is an opportunity for us as Americans to enhance our culture and our economy. She seems to have a problem with the ideas of some that our country should be only an opportunity for the immigrant, and not bear bi-directional fruit.
Why not use immigration the way sports teams use the draft – to upgrade our roster? We could take our pick of the world's engineers, doctors, scientists, uh...smoking-hot Latin guys who stand around not wearing shirts between workouts. Or, you know, whatever....

As Peter Brimelow says in his book Alien Nation: Common Sense About America's Immigration Disaster, why not choose immigrants who are better than us?

Bush thinks it's not fair to favor people with special skills – a policy evidenced by his Harriet Miers pick.

How about this: It's not fair to want to go out with someone just because that person is attractive and has a good personality because it discriminates against people who are ugly with bad social skills! That's our immigration policy.
And, this isn't going Dutch. In this little courtship, we get to pay the tab too!

The UN's Commitment to Worldwide Donothingness

You know I cannot pass up an opportunity to ridicule the UN when given an opportunity.

The latest chance to do so is with the UN's election of 22 countries with dubious human right's records to the vaunted UN Human Rights Council.

Some of the non-deserving countries rewarded are China, Cuba, Algeria and Saudi Arabia among others.

Thomas P. Kilgannon writing in Townhall has more.

China, one of those nations that will cast judgment on the liberties of individuals around the world, is led by Hu Jintao, who is ranked number six on Parade magazine's 2006 list of "The World's 10 Worst Dictators." The editors at Parade write that in China, "between 250,000 and 300,000 political dissidents are held in 'reeducation-through-labor' camps without trial." Privacy is a little understood concept in China as communications such as phone calls, e-mail, and Internet are routinely monitored by government agents. An organization known as Human Rights in China said in the last 17 years it "has documented continued and increasing detentions, arrests and other forms of persecutions."

Appearing at number seven on Parade's list of dictators is King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, whose nation was also rewarded with a seat on the Human Rights Council. The House of Saud, where women are treated like third-class citizens, received more votes in the General Assembly for a Council seat than did Switzerland.

Among the other stalwarts of tolerance that were elected to the Human Rights Council are Bangladesh, whose rights record is listed by the State Department as "poor" and which restricts religious freedom and freedom of the press; Cameroon, where activists are, according to Amnesty International, "routinely harassed, detained and assaulted"; and Cuba, whose totalitarian regime imprisons political opponents and suppresses political, religious and economic freedoms.

This is the new and "improved" United Nations Human Rights Council – and Kofi Annan can keep it.
Why is it again that we send dues to the UN?

Al Aqsa's Reaction to the Death of Daniel Wultz

I have been accused by several readers here that I am a Muslim hating anti-Arab racist. I deny the claims because they simply do not describe me.

When I see innocent people die in Iraq it causes me grief. And, the good Lord knows, there have been thousands of innocent people killed in that part of the world, both before and after the War on Terror began.

There are, however, certain types of individuals that belong in the Muslim-Arab world that I do hate. Inclusive in that group are those that celebrate the deaths of innocent people. One such person is Abu Nasser, a senior leader of the Al Aqsa Brigades in the West Bank.

From WorldNetDaily.

On news of the death of 16 year-old American Jew Daniel Wultz, Nasser had this to say:

"This is a gift from Allah. We wish this young dog will go directly with no transit to hell," Abu Nasser said.

"[Wultz] was part of the American support machine that helps our enemy. All these young American Jews come here to support the occupation, they build and live in the settlements ... . I imagine him as one of these Nazis who live here [in the settlements.] There is no difference between him and them."
Wultz was a victim of a suicide blast that took place on April 17th, and has been in a coma since the bombing.

Nassar is a man worthy of hate. Were all Arab Muslims like this, I would indeed be a racist.

Koranic Fish In Kenya

A message from Allah is present on the scales of a tuna caught in Kenya. The "wonder fish," as it is being called by the locals, is gaining so much attention that it has been taken into custody by the National Fisheries Department.

From Yahoo:

The otherwise ordinary fish caught the attention of fishmonger Omar Mohammed Awadh who pulled it out of a catch when he noticed what seemed to be Arabic writing among the scales near its tail, they said.

Arabic scholars examined the fish and determined the writing was a Koranic verse meaning "God is the greatest of all providers," said Hassan Mohamed Hassan, an education officer with the National Museums of Kenya in Mombasa.

"This has been confirmed as a verse from the Holy Koran," said Sheikh Mombasa Dor, the secretary-general of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya.

"We believe that God brings these kinds of messages in many forms from time to time and that we should not only read the Holy Book, but practice what it says," he said.
Unlike the spelling of Allah that miraculously appeared on the lid of a Burger King ice cream treat, the blessed thunnus is unlikely to raise the call of jihad against tunafish.

Time to Get Serious

The IAEA has reported that test results on residue obtained at a military site in Iran show traces of weapons grade enriched uranium.

At Captain's Quarters.

Whatever the explanation, the implication is crystal clear: the Iranians have weapons-grade uranium somewhere. The gap between the enrichment level of energy-production and weapons-grade material (5% vs 90%+) is so wide that there is no other explanation for the possession of the latter. And with its discovery on equipment used at the former military base at Lavizan -- a site demolished by the Iranians after the US discovered its covert nuclear program -- it confirms that Iran possesses it for military purposes, not peaceful energy production, for which that level of enrichment is unsuitable anyway.

The US should demand an emergency session of the UN Security Council to address this issue, rather than wait for the two weeks Russia and China demanded before this development became known. If Iran has weapons-grade uranium already in its possession, a nuclear device may come much sooner than the common wisdom of five years. Iran may already have started the process of building the weapon itself -- and if so, the world must act now to keep Iran from using it to extort the UN for Iranian purposes.
Nuclear weapons in the hands of sane thinkers solve many problems. In the hands of Ahmadinejad and company, a nuke takes on new and horrifying dimensions.

al-Qaeda Misinterpreting Islam Again

We all know that jihad is an inner and very personal struggle. It is not an external battle with infidels, pig-dogs, nasty Jews, Satanist Americans, girls that want to go to school in Afghanistan, train communters in London, nightclub visitors in Bali, wedding party attendants in Jordan, or cartoonists in Europe.

To suggest anything otherwise is an affront to all true Muslims and is a blatant abuse of Islam itself.

In a recently release video, Islam is once again attacked by al-Qaeda as the misunderstanders of the one true religion beg for blood in Denmark, Norway and France.

"Muslims avenge your Prophet .... We deeply desire that the small state of Denmark, Norway and France ... are struck hard and destroyed," said Libyan Mohammed Hassan, who escaped from US custody at Bagram airbase in Afghanistan last July.

"Destroy their buildings, make their ground shake and transform them into a sea of blood," said Hassan, dressed in military fatigues and a black turban, and holding an assault rifle.
Poor, poor Islam.

Hollywood Embraces Eco-Terrorism for Kids

You have to love one of the latest offerings out of Hollywood. The movie "Hoot" has opened in theaters this week.

It is a movie that glorifies eco-terrorism and dares teens to begin "thinking like an outlaw."

Antics of the little environmentalists include:

-- Sabotaging a construction site;
-- Gagging a land developer and holding him hostage;
-- Vandalizing of heavy machinery, theft of parts and flattening of tires;
-- Spray painting a police car;
-- Trespassing and ripping up surveyors' stakes;
-- Putting alligators and poisonous cottonmouth snakes (presumably neither of these are endangered) at the construction site.

How darn cute is that?

Frivolous Lawsuits Affecting Health Care

A few statistics compiled by Sick Of Lawsuits:

Because of litigation fears, 79% of doctors said they had ordered more tests than they would based only on professional judgment of what is medically needed. (Fear of Litigation Study: Impact on Medicine, Harris Interactive, April 11, 2002)

More than 70 percent of doctors view their patients as potential adversaries due to the hotly litigious climate. (The Doctor's Advocate, The Doctors Company, 2004)

More than 40 percent of doctors reported avoiding prescribing appropriate medication because they knew the drug might be involved in litigation. (Pharmaceutical Liability Survey, Harris Interactive, July 15, 2003)
The most important thing is, of course, that bloodsucking trial lawyers are getting rich and can afford health care for their children.

John Edwards for President--because he truly knows why health care costs are high!

Moussaoui Seeks New Trial

Wow! A week after declaring that he had won and that the United States had lost, Zacarias Moussaoui apparently has decided that his victory wasn't quite so sweet. Either that or he feels he has a chance to abuse the system even a bit longer. From Breitbart:

"Moussaoui wishes to withdraw his guilty plea because when he entered the plea his 'understanding of the American legal system was completely flawed'," his lawyers said in the motion.

Moussaoui said in an affadavit "I now see that it is possible that I can receive a fair trial" in the United States.

"Even with Americans as jurors," he went on, "I can have the opportunity to prove that I did not have any knowledge of and was not a member of the plot to hijack planes and crash them into buildings on September 11, 2001."

"I wish to withdraw my guilty plea and ask the court for a new trial to prove my innocence of the September 11 plot," he said.
The circus continues a little bit longer.

May we please have military tribunals in the future for these scumbags?

Another Rwanda

Just this weekend I watched Hotel Rwanda for the first time. As sickening as the truth of this movie is, it can only be a fraction as sickening as the true killing was. The systematic slaughter of hundreds of thousands of men, women and children cannot be pretty, even if it is done with methods less barbarous than machetes, hammers and pipes.

Don't look now, but we have another Rwanda on our hands. From Mark Steyn:

If you think the case for intervention in Darfur depends on whether or not the Chinese guy raises his hand, sorry, you're not being serious. The good people of Darfur have been entrusted to the legitimacy of the UN for more than two years and it's killing them. In 2004, after months of expressing deep concern, grave concern, deep concern over the graves and deep grave concern over whether the graves were deep enough, Kofi Annan took decisive action and appointed a UN committee to look into what's going on. Eventually, they reported back that it's not genocide.

Thank goodness for that. Because, as yet another Kofi-appointed UN committee boldly declared, "genocide anywhere is a threat to the security of all and should never be tolerated". So fortunately what's going on in the Sudan isn't genocide. Instead, it's just hundreds of thousands of corpses who happen to be from the same ethnic group, which means the UN can go on tolerating it until everyone's dead, at which point the so-called "decent left" can support a "multinational" force under the auspices of the Arab League going in to ensure the corpses don't pollute the water supply.

An important article.

Cal Thomas: "Republicans Running On Empty"

This article in Townhall by Cal Thomas pretty much sums up my opinion of in-power Republicans that seem to have lost all grip on their base philosophies.

So it has come to this: A group of Senate Republicans has proposed $100 rebates to low-income people to ease their "pain at the gas pump." They also are entertaining the possibility of higher taxes on oil industry profits, as if government does a better job of spending money than private industry. Have they forgotten the last time government imposed a "windfall profits tax" from 1980 to '88? Oil production fell (but demand grew) as "big oil" had less incentive to explore.
Just because Republican officials have forgotten Economics 101 and History 101 doesn't mean that I have.
