Ginsberg Takes A Nap

During oral arguments on the Texas redistricting case March 1, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg conked out.

As you can guess, it was completely ignored by the broadcast networks.

With an assist to PowerLineBlog, Newsbusters has the story and at least one observation.

Not one of the three broadcast evening news programs sought fit to mention Ginsburg's (sic) nap, although both NBC Nightly News and the CBS Evening News covered the hearing.

But pretend for a moment that this had happened to a conservative member of the Supreme Court. Let's say Thomas, Alito or Roberts took an unscheduled rest during a hearing. Think that would have been a story? After all, Clarence Thomas is criticized for not talking enough and Scalia is attacked for tennis related issues.
I have some real issues with George W. Bush on several distinct areas of his Presidency. However, I'd sure like to have him get a shot at nominating a replacement for Ginsberg -- even though a sleeping liberal is quite a bit less dangerous than one that is wide awake.
