Martha Reeves vs. Jay Leno

The fastest way to lose the sympathy of even the most sympathetic is for the unfortunate downtrodden to indignantly demand charity. "Hey jerk, look how pathetic I am, give me something!" is not the most clever of sales pitches.

Yet, this is the attitude that Martha Reeves displayed as she chattered on with her nose to the sky like an immature featherless bird sensing the benevolence of Jay Leno performing a free concert in southeast Michigan to benefit the unemployed.

Who does Jay Leno think he is to bestow his charity on someone else when WE ARE RIGHT HERE!

As for the controversy stirred by Reeves, [Leno friend and event organizer Jeff] Bouchard said Leno was "sort of stunned by the territorial nature of that."

Really Jay? The sad thing is that you might be dealing with the clearest thinking member of the council. For your sake, Jay, I hope you don't run into Monica Conyers after the event.
